Honor Guard |

The Garden City Police Department established an Honor Guard to pay tribute to officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. In January 1996, The Honor Guard became an official part of the Garden City Police Department and almost immediately it was utilized to pay tribute to a member of the department who died of cancer. |

The Honor Guard is utilized for the funerals of Garden City Police Department personnel and their families. Full military honors are rendered to officers killed in the line of duty or honorably discharged veterans of the armed forces. The Honor Guard may also be used for other ceremonial purposes as directed by the Chief of Police or the City Manager. |
