MPO David Wheet/Officer Christopher Stucky

In June, 2009, the father of an officer from the Garden City Police Department unexpectedly passed away while living overseas.  The officer did not have the financial means to pay for the $3,000.00 it would take for he and his wife to travel to attend the funeral.  The Garden City Police Department immediately began raising funds internally to assist with the costs, but were coming up short.  MPO David Wheet and Officer Christopher Stucky were off-duty when they heard of the situation.  MPO Wheet and Officer Stucky took it upon themselves to solicit funds from other emergency services and city employees to help with the costs.  MPO Wheet and Officer Stucky were able to successfully raise enough money to send the officer and his wife overseas to attend the funeral.  For their dedication to a fellow employee, MPO Wheet and Officer Stucky were jointly awarded Employee of the Quarter for the 2nd quarter of 2009.
